Chicago

Chicago

A city with an incredible history, Chicago was once a wonderful place to visit.

Today all that’s changed, but it didn’t need to.

During a recent trip there I marveled at the almost perfect summer weather, the varied crowds, and the beautiful lakeshore. It was as beautiful as San Diego or anywhere else in America.

But in Chicago you never really lose sight of the very deep problems all around you — the corrupt politicians, the gang violence, the lousy schools, the lack of opportunity and hope. Once you’re aware, you don’t forget that not far outside the city center most people live in pure hell.

Chicago, as you probably know, makes it damn near impossible for the average citizen to get any kind of gun for any purpose … including self defense. And the bad guys know this.

The gangs know the likelihood of anyone shooting back is slim so these cowardly thugs just willy-nilly shoot at whatever target crosses their path.

How else explain the fact that every week literally dozens of people are shot down, many killed. The casualties and murdered include children, seniors, and many others who have zero chance of protecting themselves. Just a week ago, 44 people were shot and 7 killed. Local politicians said, “it was a violent weekend.” Really?

The truth is that the weeks when dozens are NOT gunned down is the exception, except in the winter when most people are snuggled in their homes trying to stay warm.

It’s not all that surprising really. Rahm Emanuel, President Obama’s chief of staff during his fist term, is Chicago’s Mayor. Like Obama, Rahm is a liberal’s liberal. He detests the second amendment and the private ownership of guns; he’s not a big supporter of the police and regularly undermines their ability to investigate, prosecute, and punish; he’s actually done next to NOTHING to protect the lives of black Americans living in Chicago’s “war zones.” Chicago is a city under siege, but by his actions it’s hard to know who’s side the Mayor is on. His is truly an appalling record.

President Trump has offered federal resources and personnel to help address the worst of the cities problems — gang violence, failing schools, rotting infrastructure, intense poverty — but Mayor Rahm and the city’s socialist fathers don’t want the President getting credit for fixing the problems they won’t. They would rather allow poor blacks, young and old, to die on the bloody streets of The Windy City.

It begs the question, where are all the Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA crowds whose first impulse is always violence against anything they perceive to be unjust or harmful to minorities. What could be more unjust than disarming law-abiding blacks and leaving them defenseless while gangs members shoot them down in the streets?

Where are all the high school kids who think their solution of ‘no more guns’ will solve all our shooting problems?

The real difficulty is that the very serious problems people face in our nation’s inner-cities — and the solutions that will correct them — don’t match up with the narrative of the left-wing radicals.

Of course that doesn’t stop the far-left ideologues. They truly believe they are smarter than the rest of us no matter the reality around them. They use their massive megaphones, urged on and cheered by the left wing media, to proclaim that the facts are not really the facts and only they know the truth.

Fortunately, there are a growing number of Americans who see reality for what it is and who reject the socialist propaganda B.S. being shoved down their throats.

If enough of those Americans mobilize to vote this November, they have the chance to send a very clear message. It’s time to take care of the folks in the once proud city of Chicago and every other city in our country who suffer under crushing problems while leftist politicians cling to power and do NOTHING to help.

We can take back our cities. But it will only happen when we elect more conservatives at all levels who insist the politicians who run our cities do their jobs.
